Fall & Winter in Huntersville: Local Events & Dining

Fall & Winter in Huntersville: Community Spirit, Cozy Dining, and Local Tunes

Published 10/16/2025 | Posted by Kendall Jane Hunt

When the leaves start to turn in Huntersville, the town steadily moves from crisp fall weekends into bright holiday nights. Our community loves the transition into fall and winter, and this year’s lineup of events, dining specials, and live music makes it the perfect season to get out and connect.

Community Events Worth Marking on the Calendar

      Birkdale on Ice

Birkdale Village is bringing back its ice skating rink for the second year, and we can’t wait to hit the ice with you! Skaters are encouraged to book reservations in advance to secure their preferred time slot. Walk-ups are welcome, but availability is not guaranteed. Tickets will be available soon and include a 75-minute skating session. The rink will be open from November 22 through January 11.

      Breakfast with Santa

Enjoy the most important meal of the day with the most important man of the season! Birkdale has a scheduled Breakfast with Santa on the 6th of December, and tickets go on sale this coming November 7. Bring your family to join jolly old Saint Nick and his cheerful elves for a delicious breakfast! Red Rocks Cafe will host Breakfast with Santa and will provide a buffet-style breakfast.

“Holidays in Huntersville” Town Events and Tree Lighting

The town’s holiday weekend programming (tree lighting, family activities, performances) is scheduled in early December; last-season listings show tree lighting between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. on the kickoff night. Expect similar timing and watch the town calendar for the confirmed date.

      Outdoor and Nature Programming

Latta Nature Preserve / Quest Nature Center offers guided hikes, family programs, and special seasonal experiences. Many guided hikes start mid-morning (meet-ups and naturalist-led hikes often begin around 9:00 a.m.). Check the Quest/Latta calendar for topic-specific walks, raptor encounters, and holiday-themed nature programs.

Where to Eat and Book for Holiday Meals

Birkdale is the neighborhood hub for holiday dining and small events. Its event listings also point to restaurant promotions and seasonal offerings. If you’re planning a family dinner or group outing, start with the Birkdale events page and call the individual restaurants to reserve.

      • Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse (Huntersville): Frequently posts weekly specials and beer nights and accepts reservations for larger parties. They are great for a casual holiday gathering.
      • Summit Coffee at Birkdale: A reliable stop for seasonal drinks and small community events; their Birkdale location lists local contact info and often runs holiday beverage specials. This year, Comfortable Shirt is returning to bring their signature mix of classic pop, rock, country, rhythm, and blues. Join them on Saturday, October 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EDT for a lively performance you won’t want to miss.
      • Primal Brewery (Huntersville): Runs a steady calendar of weekly events. Music bingo and trivia nights are regularly scheduled, and the brewery posts monthly live-music lineups. Visit them for Mix Tape Music Bingo! Starting at 6:30 p.m. every Monday, enjoy a fun mix of playlists.

      Celebrate the Season in Huntersville

As Huntersville moves into the festive season, the town is brimming with opportunities to gather, celebrate, and make lasting memories. From skating under the lights at Birkdale Village to sharing a meal with Santa or discovering nature’s seasonal beauty at Latta Preserve, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Local restaurants and breweries add to the warmth with holiday specials, live music, and welcoming spaces for family and friends to connect. Whether residents are looking for community traditions or simply a cozy spot to share the season with loved ones, Huntersville offers the perfect blend of small-town charm and festive spirit.
